Do you know that you can book appointments and order prescriptions online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year?
Our GP Online Services provision, which we optionally offer in addition to the traditional approaches to booking appointments and ordering prescriptions (i.e. in person at Reception or verbally over the telephone etc.), is an extremely convenient, flexible, personal and efficient way for patients to book and cancel their appointments, and order prescriptions, online. GP Online Services enhances the prescription and appointment booking offering we provide, and offers patients an element of control in the booking and cancelling of their appointments, and the ordering of their prescriptions, as the service is available when the practice and or telephone lines are busy, and when the practice is closed. The system can help reduce misunderstandings with regards to appointment bookings and prescription ordering as the patient has control over when their appointments are booked, what medication is ordered and also receive an e-mail to confirm their appointment time and medication order. With GP Online Services you can write why you require an appointment or why you require medication at a specific time (especially if you are ordering it earlier than usual). This information is useful for the clinician, so that they have an understanding of what you will be discussing during your consultation or why you require medication at an unusual time. More information about booking appointments online can be found through this 'Book Online' link, underneath the 'Appointments' tab at the top of this page. Similarly, further details with regards to ordering your medication online can be accessed by clicking this 'Order Online' link, underneath the 'Prescriptions' tab at the top of this page.
There is a dedicated ‘YouTube’ channel for GP Online Services, entitled ‘Patient Online’, run by NHS England. This link will take you to the Patient Online channel, however some useful specific videos can viewed below:
There is also further information with regards to GP Online Services available through the NHS Choices website, accessed through this link.
