APPOINTMENTS

We are constantly striving to improve access to appointments. Appointments can be made in person at Reception, verbally over the telephone, or electronically using our Online Services provision (see the 'Book Online' page underneath the 'Appointments' tab at the top of this page). For continuity of care, we recommend that you see the same clinician for ongoing problems, although you can obviously make an appointment with any clinician of your choosing. There are routine appointments available throughout the day (please see the 'Opening Hours' section of the website for more information). A normal appointment is scheduled to last for 10 minutes. We respectfully request that each appointment is for one person and one problem, please tell a member of staff when booking your appointment if you require a longer appointment.

CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS / DID-NOT-ATTEND (DNA)

We know that sometimes, patients are unable to attend their booked appointments. If this is the case, please let us know as soon as possible so that we are able to offer your appointment to another patient. Cases of repeated un-attendance of appointments, without informing the surgery, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

MEDICAL EMERGENCIES

For those patients experiencing an URGENT MEDICAL EMERGENCY ONLY we may be able to accommodate an additional on-the-day appointment (these appointments are ONLY available on-the-day). Please be advised that these appointments are at the discretion of the clinician. The clinician may be seeing you after a full surgery, therefore please be prepared to wait. If the clinician does not consider your ailment to be that of an URGENT MEDICAL EMERGENCY, they may be unable to see you and will request that you book a routine appointment.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS

Rather than seeing you in person, the clinician may be able to speak to you over the telephone as there are a limited number of telephone consultations available during the day. If you would like to speak to a clinician please request a telephone consultation with a member of staff and remember to leave the best contact number for yourself. Please be aware, telephone consultations do not take place at the time of the call and are booked in with the clinician for later in the day. We are unable to guarantee a time that the clinician will call you. There are increasing demands placed on clinicians and whilst they normally will carry out telephone consultations at the end of their surgeries, it may be that they will call you during surgery if they are fortunate enough to have a gap between patients. We advise patients that require a telephone consultation to keep their contact telephone with them at all times so that they are able to take a call. Once again, these appointments are at the discretion of the clinician.
