NHS HEALTH CHECK

Are you aged between 40 and 74? Do you want to lead a healthier lifestyle and reduce the risk of developing heart or kidney disease, stroke, diabetes or dementia?

If so, why not take advantage of a FREE NHS Health Check offered here at Bedworth Health Centre?

As you grow older, regardless of gender, the risk of developing these conditions, increases. There are also certain medical conditions and lifestyle choices that can increase this risk. However, thankfully, these conditions can often be prevented, even if you have a history of them in your family (you may be more at risk of developing these conditions if you have a family history of them). Taking advantage of our FREE NHS Health Check now has the potential to help with this prevention and to reduce the risks, making sure that you stay healthy – many people who have had a FREE NHS Health Check find it beneficial.

Even if you currently feel well, it is still worth taking advantage of our FREE NHS Health Check as this can lower the chances of you developing the aforementioned conditions in the future. This is a completely optional service, there is no obligation to take up the offer of a FREE NHS Health Check, we do understand that patients can be concerned that the results of the check may have an impact on their lifestyle. However, we strongly encourage patients to attend for our FREE NHS Health Check and to discuss these concerns with one of our health professionals.

A FREE NHS Health Check performed by Bedworth Health Centre should take no more than 20 minutes and can be performed by one of the Nursing team. They will ask you some simple questions about your family history and current lifestyle and then will take some basic observations such as height, weight, blood pressure and cholesterol. They will then discuss what your results mean and you will be given personalised advice on how to lower your risk of developing one of the aforementioned conditions and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Depending on your results, some further tests may need to be carried out and if needs be certain treatment or medication will be prescribed to help you maintain a good standard of health.

The NHS Health check is a national scheme aimed at preventing the onset of these particular medical problems. Everyone who is aged between 40 and 74, who has not been diagnosed with one of these conditions, will be invited for an NHS Health Check, once every five years. However, if you are outside of this age group and are concerned about your health, you should make an appointment to discuss this with the GP. Please see the ‘Appointments’ page via this link for more information about booking a Doctor’s appointment at Bedworth Health Centre.
